How it Started

Why Englewood?

The Englewood and University of Denver (DU) area is adjacent to the rapidly growing south Denver region. The transient and ever-changing nature of living in and around the city can create a sense of isolation. Trends suggest that residents are searching for meaningful community, for ways to be a part of something bigger than themselves.

We believe that Jesus is the answer to our questions of identity and belonging. We want to bring this message to a city searching for meaning and support the planting of more churches that proclaim the gospel.

In 2021, the Western Church Planting Network began a new residency partnership with Deer Creek Church in Littleton with the goal of planting a new church in the south Denver area.

In the fall of 2022, a group of about 15 people formed a community group and began meeting in each other’s homes on Sunday afternoons.

In January of 2023, our core group met and officially decided to form Christ Presbyterian Church Englewood.

Christ Presbyterian Church Englewood began meeting at Spirit of Hope UMC on Sunday evenings for Bible study and a community meal. We’ve continued to meet at Spirit of Hope as we grow our community!
